Working responsibly

Eden Hotel Collection has a genuine commitment to work towards achieving the best possible sustainable practices, and by reducing our carbon emissions and our negative impact on the world, we will contribute to future proofing the lives and livelihoods of future generations. We recognise our responsibilities by actively implementing and evaluating our environmental practices wherever possible. We aim to be a collection of environmentally responsible hotels, helping to achieve a cleaner, safer and healthier world for our colleagues, our families and our local communities. Our long term objectives are to continually improve our waste management processes, by reducing waste produced at each hotel, reduce our carbon foot print significantly, effectively manage our energy and water usage and endeavour to use local and sustainable suppliers wherever possible.

1 – Employee practices and training

We include environmental awareness into our new employee inductions, for example how to reduce energy, water and waste. This is continually emphasized throughout our employees EHC journey and championed by our hotel based Green Champions. We actively encourage lift sharing and combined journeys wherever possible.

2 – Guest education

We invite our guests to assist us in our mission by asking them to participate in our linen reuse program in order to reduce our energy and water consumption and to turn off TVs, and lights when their bedrooms are not in use. In our effort to reduce paper we aim to request our guests receive a paperless check in and check out process, by receiving all documentation via email prior to arrival, with all invoices sent via email upon departure.

3 – Waste management

We are working closely with our nominated waste supplier and are currently recycling glass, paper, cardboard, plastic and food waste. We currently recycle 100% of our waste with 30% directly recycled, 50% is recycled into renewable energy created from waste and 20% is processed by anaerobic digestion.  We encourage e-mails in favour of post and are gradually introducing systems based on e format.

4 – Purchasing

Wherever possible we source and promote product ranges that minimise the environmental impact during production and distribution. We purchase cleaning chemicals with a low environmental impact. We communicate our priorities to our suppliers with regards to products, packaging and deliveries. We strive to decrease the number of deliveries per week per supplier. We purchase recyclable products and equipment in our hotels wherever possible (stationery etc).

5 – Community engagement

We support and actively contribute to the local community by working closely with local schools, charities and suppliers. We employ locally where we can to reduce our environmental footprint and we source products from local suppliers wherever possible.
