Shake off the January Blues!

January, the month that we bestow the title of ‘January Blues’ (and don’t we know it!)

After the big exciting build up to Christmas filled with endless sparkling lights and freezing outings, the clinking of glasses and toasts around the table to accompany the festive spirit filling the air and our homes it’s no wonder December is the ‘most wonderful time of the year!’ And now here comes January… where the carpet once was is now replaced with wrapping paper and glitter, the leftover plates piling as high as a tower, and the never ending menu option of turkey in EVERY meal that is created. We are pretty sure why the month receives the title…

Want to find a way to help stomp out those January blues? Here are some ideas at our hotels:

Bovey Castle

Walk, Explore, Stay!

As the daylight drops so can our Vitamin D levels. When this particular vitamins level drops, we can sometimes start to feel more tired too. Give your body a boost of Vitamin D with a walk outside as much as you can! At Bovey Castle, you will be spoilt for choice at the different locations and scenic routes to explore. Head out to see the breath-taking views in the Dartmoor National Park, or explore the stunning views of the wide range of coves and beaches just a drive away.

Having something to look forward to can give us something to be excited about as we push through the month. Whether it is meeting friends and family for a catch up, or organising a much needed relaxing getaway giving ourselves something to look forward to can certainly chase some of those ‘January Blues’ away.

At Bovey Castle, we have some great opportunities for you to come and stay with us! With fantastic experiences around the hotel, such as stunning scenic walks, our own thrilling range of activities to try and our own spa on site. So sit back, relax and book a Winter Staycation that includes two nights accommodation and watch the January blues melt away.

Here are some more ideas from our Eden Hotel Collection Team about
how they are chasing away the January Blues

Explore new recipes!

“With our homes surrounded by food such as pudding in every flavour and endless Christmas dinner’s in all their splendour and variety, December was certainly the month for food! January is also a great time to make sure we have feel good foods in our diets, to help us feel good again! Try giving some home baking a go, or finding a new recipe that is full of nutrients and vitamins to warm you up during this month.”

Make way for those plants!

“Indoor plants not only look good, they help us feel good too! Studies have shown that having indoor plants can help to:

  • Clear out any air pollutants
  • Increase creativity
  • Absorb carbon dioxide to keep the oxygen flowing

There are so many varieties of plants, some require very little maintenance at all but still provide the wonderful benefits. So this month, welcome plants and watch them bloom in your home, (be sure to do your research on plants if you have a pet!)

There are many different places to purchase plants such as local community shops or maybe even some allotments in the area! So also be sure to do your research to how you can support your community with purchasing plants.”
