Story Recommendations from Eden Hotel Collection

Reading stories is an experience of diving into sea of pages and illustrations, the immersion into the twists and turns of the plot and the need to finish ‘just one more page’…

The importance of reading for enjoyment is so valuable, with a variety of benefits such as develops our creative thinking, expands the mind or improves concentration (just to name a few!) To celebrate the delight that reading can bring to us, World Book Day was created so that one day each year the promotion of books and reading is raised throughout the country to encourage the excitement of reading (and who can forget the parading of a book character costumes for those in education!)

This year we wanted to do something a little different to recognise this wonderful event (after all, this year will be the Annual World Book Day’s 25th Anniversary!) Here at Eden Hotel Collection, we have asked our members of staff who work in our collection of hotels all about their favourite books, and how you can get involved in World Book Day below,  read on and see if you recognise any personal favourites.

The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton

“I have enjoyed this story ever since I was young, it is so creative and sparks imagination! Enid Blyton is a fantastic author, creating stories full of magical adventures to be enjoyed throughout the years. My favourite place to read would be somewhere outdoors with the sun shining under a tree, a calm, tranquil place allows me to relax and immerse into the book I’m reading.  When I’m away on holiday, I will always choose fiction to read (unless there’s a really good autobiography out!)” Tara – Director of Marketing

Pursuit of Love by Nancy Mitford

“My favourite book of all time is the Pursuit of Love by Nancy Mitford, which I first read as a teenager and 40 years later it is still my go to book if I can’t decide what to read! In my spare time I am regularly attending two book clubs, which means I always have a fantastic long list of books to read! I am currently reading  ‘Small Pleasures’ by Clare Chambers that is beautifully written and an entrancing story plot about falling in love, (it was even shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2021!”) Jenny, Conference and Events Co-ordinator

Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl

“A story full of adventure and great characters, what more could I want from a book! I loved this story since I was young and the way Roald Dahl creates characterisation and story plots to keep the reader engaged. My favourite place to read would be at home, all cosy on the sofa with a hot mug of coffee (and an array of biscuits to enjoy the book with!) My favourite types of books are those that can make me laugh out loud!” Jenny, Marketing Manager
